Mind Like Yours, focusses on the body and its language; movement.
Mind Like Yours is a communication station that has designed a movement- database for creatives with the aim to translate an idea, a state of mind or emotive thought by using the moving body. The movement database generates body codes which are divided into movements, postures and gestures that can be used for various means of communication, from film and photography to the stage. We create a dialogue between these body codes and our society, reflecting the social, cultural and political landscape of our modern world. Our aim is to create a communicative layer that demands a deeper involvement of the mind and the eye. Our movement-database will keep on transforming and expanding. The first movement series is based on the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows from John Koening and The Book of Human Emotions by Tiffany Watt Smith.
Since 2017 I have been a Movement Minder, with Mind Like Yours.
“The body in art evolves emotions, memory, ideas of mortality; concepts of beauty and abjectness, power, identity, faith – and not only in the mind of the artist, but in that of the viewer as well”
