Alleen met iedereen / Alone with Everyone
An open lab that will become a collective reflection, captured in object, film, sound and performance. Through the seemingly insignificant it will reveal a society’s underlying social norms. A comment on contemporary relationships, identity, community, gender and materialism.
Alleen met Iedereen is an open lab and art experience that zooms in on our relationships to domestic objects, objects that become an extension of the self and determine the psychology of space (the home). Linked to identity, gender and our emotions. Using miniature objects and furniture Lunatics and Poets unpack the codes of a living space and plays on the notions of belonging, the borders between the public and the private spheres and the idea of anthropomorphic imagination. By removing the human body in a domestic setting, do we then automatically start assigning human characteristics to nonhuman entities and which emotional traces do we leave behind in our homes when we are not physically present?

Films
In this age of Zoom, Teams and Google Meets, we read into the bookshelves, furniture and other objects and décor you see in the homes of friends, classmates and even famous people. In this time, more than ever before, we are making the private domain – public. We think about how we showcase our personalities in unexpected ways and even stage them deliberately in our private spaces. Can homes turn into filmsets and stage decors?
In the short films we witness absurd and poetic scenes of a strangers’ daily life at home. More ‘real-life’ will be added into Alleen met iedereen as the open lab progresses. The short films that will be shot in the next months, will be inspired by the stories of Almere. They will be a window into the life of the Almeerder, balancing between reality and fiction.
Performance
At the opening one of the film characters is present in the space. As part of the open lab Lunatics and Poets will organise performative workshops with the Almeerders around daily rituals and habits. We will discover the communicative language of the body in various ways; body language, daily movements and exploring the relationship of identity to object and garment and on how these can create tactile emotions that influence the movement language.
